WAAPA's award-winning Defying Gravity percussion ensemble celebrates its 21st birthday in a concert of seductive melodies and sparkling rhythms mixed with an astonishing array of percussion instruments from around the world. Born in Italy, pianist Victor Sangiorgio moved to WA when he was four, gave his first public performance at age five, and by 19 had played with all of Australia’s major orchestras. Before settling in the UK, he also lived in Italy and the USA. Today he’ll perform Beethoven’s Variations on Paisiello's “Nel cor più non mi sento”, Haydn’s Sonata in C minor, Hob.XVI:20 and Enescu’s Suite for Piano, Op 10. > more
