Simon is the early music curator for ABC Classic FM, using his expertise in the field to oversee the acquisition and placement of early music on the network.
Simon's interests are not exclusively musical. He holds an honours degree in English Literature from Flinders University where he received the Flaxman Prize and was University Medallist in Humanities.
Simon's series, The Skill of Musick, a history of the modern revival of early music and historical performance practice, won the 1988 Australian Hi-Fi Award. He occasionally presents feature programs about different aspects of music, such as his series The Myths of Opera and Words for Music.
Simon is currently presenting the Metropolitan Opera NY Broadcast Season in 'At The Opera', Sunday evenings at 7.05pm and is the new presenter of 'Up Late', Monday to Thursday nights from 10.30pm.
