Graham presents Keys To Music, a program designed to provide a "way in" to the wonderful world of music for everyone. He regards this program as a summation of nearly everything he's done.
"I trained in Music Education and started my professional life as a high school teacher while looking for opportunities to conduct," says Graham. "After several years in the classroom the big break came." From 1985 to 2002 Graham was a fulltime conductor, holding positions with the University of Adelaide, the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra and the Melbourne Chorale as well as many other organisations. Now with his work for ABC Classic FM taking most of his time he conducts less, but still revels when he can in directing symphonic repertoire, choral music, opera, education programs and family concerts throughout Australia.
Graham has kept his passion for Music Education, and has made it a point to include educational activities of all kinds in his life. He regards Keys To Music, which started in 2003, as tailor-made for him and is thrilled to have the opportunity to share his musical passions this way. He manages to juggle the recording of each week's program with his conducting activities in Adelaide (where he lives) and elsewhere in Australia.
It's no secret that Graham's major musical obsession is the music of Handel. "I feel like I know the old guy personally!" he says. Other passions include fine Australian wine, Absolutely Fabulous, and the city of Venice.
Graham also presents Rising Stars, our showcase of the brightest young Australian musical talent.
