Creating THE ABBEY, a three-part series of one-hour documentaries, was a unique opportunity for Varcha, an established documentary maker. The series is the culmination of Varcha’s sixteen-year relationship with the Benedictine Community of the Abbey. As an independent producer/director, it is a first to have her own life’s journey so directly and significantly become the basis of the first production made by her company CSPB.

“I’m turning 50 soon, shit happens”, says 49-year-old Lyn, who hails from a mining town on the wild west coast of Tasmania. Lyn feels she’s had a fortunate life. She’s been in the army, got divorced and has grown-up kids. She’s a lapsed Catholic “at a fork in the road and the signpost is weathered and the writing is gone”.
