Matt Brown
Matt Brown has been the Middle East ABC correspondent since February, 2005 and is based in Jerusalem.
He has worked for the ABC for 13 years, beginning as a radio reporter and news presenter for Radio Triple J.
Matt has reported for Radio News, Radio Current Affairs, Lateline and 7.30 Report and has also been a producer for Background Briefing and a researcher and producer for Four Corners.
He has received two Walkley commendations and was a finalist in 1999.
From 2002 to 2004, he led the ABC's coverage of the main political stories of the day reporting for radio current affairs from the Canberra press gallery. In June/July of 2004 he undertook the dangerous and arduous task of reporting from Baghdad on the handover of sovereignty to Iraq's interim government.
In February 2005 one of his first assignments as the newly-appointed Middle East correspondent was to return to Baghdad to report on the aftermath of the historic elections.

Awards
In the Walkley Awards for excellence in journalism, announced November 27, China Correspondent Stephen McDonell won the Best Coverage of the Asia-Pacific Region category with a package of stories covering the Sichuan earthquake, the Three Gorges Dam, China Internet and the violent crackdown by China on Tibetan students protesting in Beijing.
In the UN Media Peace Awards announced on Friday October 24, Middle East correspondent Matt Brown won the TV Current Affairs category for "Syria - Iraqi Refugees" and Eric Campbell received a Special commendation for his story from Armenia, "Ghosts of the Past" .
