Andrew Geoghegan
A sense of adventure prompted Andrew to move from behind the business desk in Sydney, where he was finance correspondent, to Johannesburg to become the ABC's correspondent covering the entire African continent.
Andrew fell into broadcasting while completing an Urban Planning degree, when he spent his spare time dabbling at the university radio station. His hobby led to a cadetship at the ABC in Perth.
He's worked as a journalist in the UK and Asia covering some of the world's major news events.
While in Australia he's had a taste of working at every commercial television network and SBS, where he honed his craft as a current affairs reporter. He's also hosted a television finance program for an American broadcaster; his interviews with political and business leaders were syndicated around the world.
Andrew was eventually drawn back home to Aunty, where he's reported for The 7.30 Report, Lateline, Inside Business and radio current affairs. In so doing he has earned Walkley Award and United Nation Peace Prize nominations and commendations.
Andrew is married and is reliving his childhood with his two young daughters.
