HomepageWe've redesigned and rebuilt the abc.net.au homepage to make it easier for you to see the range of content available across the whole site. With bigger sections and slideshows, you can see the latest news, what's coming up on TV and what's new from Grandstand Sport, Health, Science, Kids and Parenting.

There is a new 'Explore the ABC' section at the bottom of the page that gives you quick links to the wide range of content across abc.net.au

You can still set your local weather and radio information on the home page as well as see the latest transcripts published and what's new from the Shop. We'll also be highlighting new and interesting websites in the 'Featured site' section.

'Best of abc.net.au' will continue to highlight unmissable content from across the whole website. These are regularly updated throughout the day and night; you can see the latest 4 on the homepage, and go back further via the 'Best of abc.net.au' page.

And we have expanded the Unleashed section on the homepage. Unleashed is our forum for commentators, across all political and social spectrums, to present their opinions and for you to respond. You can now see the latest four Unleashed stories, and follow the links to read and discuss.

The ABC Services section will highlight new and more ways for you to get ABC content, such as ABC Now and Mobile services.

How do I use the new homepage?

There are a number of features on the new homepage.

Slideshows: these either cycle automatically when you open the page (News) and can be stopped by using the pause [||] button, or are manually run by clicking on the forward [>>] or back [<<] buttons.

Media links: audio and video can generally be played within the page, so you can decide if you want to follow the links for more.

How do I set my location for Weather and my Local ABC and Radio information?

All you need do is enter your postcode in the 'Change location' box and your homepage will be customised to your local area.

Where are the News Top Stories?

You can see a selection of the latest top stories in the slide show, or goes to News Home for the complete bulletin.

How do I find the links that were in the old left hand navigation?

As well as expanding the top navigation to show a range of sections in key content areas, we have a new 'Explore' section at the bottom of the page, where you can find links to an extensive range of subjects from across our website.

What are RSS/XML feeds?

RSS is an alternative view of a web page that allows you to subscribe and read the content in RSS newsreader software. Whenever the web page is updated your newsreader will automatically display the new item.

There are many news readers available and many are free. Some news readers are programs you download and install on your computer and others are web-based services that you access with your web browser.

ABC RSS feeds are protected by Australian and international copyright laws, and are available for personal, non-commercial use only.

What is podcasting?

A podcast is an audio or video file that is automatically sent to your computer and/or portable device as soon as it's available. You need to 'subscribe' to receive a podcast by downloading a small piece of software that manages all of your podcast subscriptions. When connected to the internet, the software searches for the latest edition on our website, and will download the media file to a folder on your computer, where you can listen or watch it from there, or transfer it to your portable mp3/video player. This means that you don't have to manually search for new programs to download on this website. It happens automatically! For more information, visit our Podcasting page.

What is vodcasting?

Vodcasting is another name for Video Podcasting (see 'What is podcasting?' above.)

Which ABC Television programs are available to view online?

There are a variety of ABC TV programs that you can either view online or download to your computer/portable device. Go to ABC TV's Video page to see what's available,

How do I listen to ABC Radio online?

You can listen to live streams of all our Radio Networks as well as download selected podcasts. Follow the links from radio section of the homepage..

Who decides what makes it onto the 'Best of abc.net.au' list?

All content in the 'Best of abc.net.au' is editorially selected (by the Editor, abc.net.au and the Networks team). Content from across TV, radio and online is previewed and selected for inclusion on a daily basis.
