Phoenix extend unbeaten run

The Melbourne Phoenix remain unbeaten after eight rounds in the National Netball League after a 67-39 win over the Hunter Jaegers overnight.

Melbourne's other franchise, the Kestrels, also enjoyed good fortunes with a hard-fought 50-48 win over the Perth Orioles.

Meanwhile, in other results, the Sydney Swifts defeated the Adelaide Thunderbirds 48-46, and the Queensland Firebirds had a 55-48 win over the Canberra Darters.

Australia focused on top position: Ellis

Australian netball captain Liz Ellis says the side is desperate to regain their number one world ranking from New Zealand.

The Silver Ferns currently hold the top position, and take on Australia over two Tests in Melbourne and Adelaide next month.
