Eels cruising against Tigers
Posted
The Eels scored four tries to one in the first 40 minutes to take a commanding 22-6 lead over Wests Tigers in tonight's round 23 NRL clash at Parramatta Stadium.
Parramatta did all the early running in front of a boisterous home crowd, opening the scoring after just six minutes through a try to Taulima Tautai.
They followed up with three more, including Tautai's second in the 33rd minute, to lead the shell-shocked Tigers 22-0 late in the half.
But Benji Marshall ensured the Tigers would go to the sheds with some semblance of hope after running 70 metres to score right on half-time.
In blustery conditions, an Eels bomb actually travelled back towards their own line, and when winger Tony Williams attempted to keep the ball in play, Marshall intercepted an infield pass and outpaced Jarryd Hayne to the try line.
The Tigers had just 12 sets of six compared to Parramatta's 19, and missed a whopping 29 tackles.
