Council urged not to approve Valla development

A New South Wales mid-north coast environment group is warning the Nambucca Shire Council not to approve a development application in Valla when it meets tomorrow.
The Nambucca Valley Conservation Association says the East West Rd development will destroy core koala habitat.
The Department of Local Government has ordered councils to avoid "controversial or significant" development decisions in the "caretaker" period just before elections.
Association president Paula Flack says the Valla development application is both of those things.
"This shire doesn't need more rural-residential land at the moment, we've got a surplus of lots available," she said.
"So we're certainly concerned at the scale and the impact of the development application, but first and foremost we're considered that council may consider this while it's in caretaker mode."
