Food company fined over worker injury

Posted August 29, 2008 11:00:00

McCain Foods has been fined $75,000 for breaching safety laws at its Ballarat factory.

An employee suffered a finger injury when his hand was caught in a pizza shredder in 2006.

The Ballarat Magistrates Court heard the machine was not maintained properly and the emergency stop function did not work.

McCain Foods pleaded guilty to failing to provide a safe working environment.
