Long-serving firefighters honoured at Brisbane ceremony

Posted August 29, 2008 14:45:00

About 100 long-serving Queensland firefighters have been honoured at a ceremony in Brisbane.

Emergency Services Minister Neil Roberts says eight of the officers were recognised for 40 years' of duty.

"Our fire and rescue service officers are prepared to put their lives on the line for Queenslanders and we need to recognise that," he said.

"They find themselves in very difficult and dangerous circumstances on a regular basis, they deal with extreme trauma and issues that some of us wouldn't be confronted with at any times in our lives."
