Roar vows to retain identity

The Queensland Roar has pledged to retain its current name even though the state will soon have another two teams in the A-League.
Football Federation Australia has announced that Gold Coast and Townsville will field teams in next year's competition.
Roar chief executive Lawrence Oudendyk says the club will not be renamed simply because the A-League is adding two more Queensland teams.
"Queensland Roar is a registered trademark, it's registered with the FFA, also with the trademarks division, so we certainly intend to keep the name Queensland," he said.
"We've spent four years marketing Queensland and we certainly don't see any need to change that."
Roar coach Frank Farina has welcomed the inclusion of the new teams, saying local rivalries will strengthen the competition.
"The first two new teams coming from Queensland shows that football is alive and well in this state," he said.
"We're producing good players and to have two new teams... for the derbies it's going to be fantastic.
"Obviously for the banter between the coaches and clubs and that, it should be very interesting."
