A man has died after being shot in the head yesterday in Geelong in Victoria's south.

Victorian police say the victim knew his attacker.

Officers were called to Solar Drive in Whittington yesterday evening, where they found a man lying in the street.

He was taken to the Alfred Hospital and died just after midnight.

Investigators suspect the man was shot from inside a nearby home, by a man armed with a rifle.

Police have arrested and interviewed a 30-year-old man and will question him again later today.
