Govt department cleared over child protection case

Posted October 1, 2008 14:06:00

The Victorian Department of Human Services (DHS) has been cleared of any wrongdoing after a review of a child protection case in Geelong.

In June, a Victorian woman was charged in Adelaide over alleged offences she had committed since February, when she was living in Geelong.

The DHS file on the 28-year-old woman was closed a year before.

The review found the decision to close the file was correct.

The report also made six recommendations to improve the handling of child protection cases, which the State Government has accepted.
