A steel products company in Adelaide has been fined $73,000 over a group of workers suffering burns from molten metal.

Six workers received severe facial and upper body burns in two separate accidents at the Korvest premises, at Kilburn in 2006.

A SafeWork SA investigation found there were insufficient emergency response provisions and the workers did not have adequate protective equipment.

Korvest had pleaded guilty to two counts of failing to maintain a safe work environment and a third of failing to report incidents.

SafeWork SA did not hear about the first accident until after the second.

They happened seven months apart, splashing the workers with liquid metal heated to 450 degrees Celsius.
