Tasmanian sheepdog trainers to head interstate

Posted October 5, 2008 10:39:00

Two Tasmanians have been re-selected in the Australian team to compete at the national sheepdog championships to be held next year.

The week-long trials in Launceston have wrapped up, with Australia taking out the Trans Tasman Championship by 26 points over New Zealand.

Deloraine's Malcolm Taylor is one of the state's two Australian representatives.

This is his eighth selection in the team and he is already looking forward to competing against New Zealand on their home turf next year.

"This is a very good side the one we've got here" Mr Taylor said.

"And also the one that's going to go away next year is just as good, we're very lucky we've got the better dogs in," he said.

Dubbo's Pip Hudson and his dog Kiwi-Golda took out the Australian Championships just half a point ahead of Western Australia's Ivan Soloman.
