Jetstar gets most passengers up and away

Flight problems at Jetstar have forced about 30 passengers to further delay their travel plans.

The airline's computer system crashed yesterday afternoon, leaving staff to check-in passengers manually.

About 700 people travelling in and out of Tasmania had their trips postponed until today.

But Jetstar's corporate relations manager Simon Westaway says some people are still waiting for a new flight.

"Out of Hobart we'll get everyone bar 17 people out today," Mr Westaway said.

"In Launceston were dealing with a similar number of people that may not be able to travel today but we are dealing with people one on one in terms of arranging their new travel."

Passengers who were booked to fly today have not been affected.

Yesterday's problem was compounded because most flights were full due to school holidays and national events in Hobart.

Mr Westaway, says about 350 were stranded overnight.

"Well, we've been flying full," Mr Westaway said.

"It's the school holiday time and our network was very full."

"In essence, you're looking at around 350 disrupted passengers trying to come into the state yesterday and around the same number going out of the state last evening.

"So, in total, it's around 700 people," Mr Westaway said.

"Jetstar apologises again for the disruption that was caused yesterday."

The airline is using all available seats to re-schedule people, including ones on Qantas and Virgin.
