Police fear for missing girl

Posted October 6, 2008 12:13:00

Police say there are concerns for a 10-year-old girl who has gone missing in Wollongong on the New South Wales south coast.

Tia Hammond was last seen by her brother in Corrimal Street in Wollongong at 8:30am on Saturday.

At the time she was wearing a blue jacket with three white stripes down the front, black shorts and black and white slip-on shoes.

Chief Inspector Mark Lavers says two young girls have since told police they saw her getting into a taxi with a woman between 7:00pm and 8.30pm in Whaley Avenue at Bellambi on Saturday.

"She has shoulder length brown, wavy hair and she's about 150 centimetres tall," he said.

"If anyone has any information or they think they've seen her if they could contact Wollongong police on 4226 7899."
