Gilchrist to return against Australia

Posted October 6, 2008 14:24:00

Retired Test cricketer Adam Gilchrist will return to the field to play in an All-Stars Twenty20 match against Australia, officials say.

Gilchrist will be part of the Australian Cricketers' Association's (ACA) All-Stars team to play against the national side in Brisbane on November 14, Cricket Australia says.

Organisers have refused to comment on the make-up of the rest of the All-Stars team, saying only it will include "returning icon players".

"Adam Gilchrist will play as part of the ACA All-Stars, a team selected by their peers, at the end of last season," a Cricket Australia spokesman said.

"They will be up against a full-strength Australian XI."

It has been suggested that the recently retired fast bowler Glenn McGrath and ACA president Darren Lehmann will form part of Gilchrist's team.
