Missing Wollongong girl found safe

Posted October 7, 2008 11:44:00

A 10-year-old girl missing since Saturday morning in Wollongong, on the New South Wales south coast, is back home.

The girl was staying with relatives apparently without her parents' knowledge when a police patrol recognised her in a fast-food outlet yesterday morning.

Wollongong duty officer Inspector Brian Wyver says a number of recent abductions had made police concerned.

"We're all concerned about young children and there has been a number of reports in the media in relation to kids being abducted, so we're always on alert for that," Inspector Wyver said.

"I think parents are parents, they should know how to look after their own children."
