A 33-year-old man has appeared in the Perth Magistrates Court accused of sexually assaulting a prostitute.

Police allege the man used deceit to have sex with a call girl in her East Perth apartment in August.

It is alleged he paid for the all-night service with a $10,000 cheque he knew would bounce because of insufficent funds in his bank account.

He is also accused of attempted fraud in relation to a police sting operation involving another prostitute last month.

Today his lawyer told the court the allegations were unusual and his client intended to plead not guilty.

The case was adjourned until the 21st of October.
