Posted October 7, 2008 21:45:00

Northern Territory police are investigating a triple fatality from a car accident on Groote Eylandt in the Gulf of Carpentaria this afternoon.

Authorities say the fatal roll-over happened at Emerald River near Alyangula about 2pm ACST.

Two people were killed immediately, while another died later as a result of injuries sustained in the crash.

A fourth person was also injured.

The deaths brings the Territory's road toll to 62, compared to 37 for the same time last year.
