Melbourne taxi driver stabbed

A taxi driver has been treated in hospital for stab wounds, after being attacked in the Melbourne suburb of Fitzroy.

Police say the 29-year-old was stabbed three times by a passenger at the corner of Brunswick Street and Alexandra Parade at about 2:30am AEDT.

The man stole the taxi, but dumped it a short time later.
