Fraser drops back in Madrid

Posted October 12, 2008 12:38:00

Australia's Marcus Fraser carded a third round 74 overnight to slip off the pace in golf's Madrid Masters in Spain.

South Africa's Charl Schwartzel shrugged off a nagging shoulder injury to birdie the final hole for a one-shot lead.

Schwartzel, who had led with Fraser on 9-under, hit a 4-under 67 to go 14-under 199 for the tournament.

Argentina's Ricardo Gonzalez carded a 9-under par 62 to sit a shot behind.

Spaniard Pablo Larrazabal hit a 9-under 62 to be in third place on 11-under, while Australia's Andrew Tampion, England's Paul Waring and Larrazabal's compatriot Carlos Del Moral were tied for fourth on 10-under.

Fraser slipped eight shots behind Schwartzel while former double Masters champion Jose Maria Olazabal, making his third Tour comeback after a series of illness and injury, was 14 shots behind.
