Teenager charged over assault on taxi driver

Police in Perth have charged a 19-year-old man over an assault on a taxi driver.

They say the 61-year-old driver picked up three men from a home in Merriwa and asked them if they had money to pay for the ride.

It is alleged when he stopped the cab on Hodges Drive and let the men out one of the passengers hit the him over the head with a vodka bottle.

The man has been charged with one count of assault occasioning bodily harm.
