Young Tasmanian drivers have admitted to engaging in dangerous activities while on the road.

The survey of driving trends by insurer A-A-M-I found that drivers under the age of 25 often speed, drink-drive and use mobile phones.

Spokesman Steve Wilson says it is concerning that young drivers in Tasmania are more inclined to exceed the speed limit than drivers from any other state or territory.

"85 percent of young drivers have said that at some point or most of the time they have sped compared to 65 percent being the national average," Mr Wilson said.
