Socceroos defender Craig Moore says he was pleased with his comeback to the Australian football team in last night's 4-0 World Cup qualifying win against Qatar in Brisbane.

Moore made an immediate return to the starting line-up after coming out of international retirement at Lang Park to win his 40th cap for Australia.

"It's always nice when you can come back in and you get a nice result like that," he said.

"But that's full credit to the boys, I think we started the game extremely positive and goals change matches.

"It was nice to see us get the goals at the right times, both sides of both halves."

Socceroos coach Pim Verbeek says last night's thrashing of Qatar shows his side can still be dangerous without its full complement of stars.

High profile players including Harry Kewell, Mark Viduka, Mark Bresciano and Vince Grella were unavailable for the match but Australia cruised to victory.

Verbeek says the result is a testament to the growing depth in the Australian squad, which will help during the tough World Cup qualifying draw that lies ahead.

"It's great because the coming six games we'll have the same situation," he said.

"The next game is not FIFA dates so that means playing on the weekend and hope and pray that everyone get on the airplane to Bahrain.

"We will have enough players, we have good players, we have talented players so we must be happy with that."
