Greens accuse candidates of "greenwash"

Posted October 16, 2008 18:33:00

The ACT Greens say they want the community to look hard at all parties' policies relating to the environment ahead of Saturday's election.

Greens candidate Shane Rattenbury says climate change is an urgent issue and that spin has overtaken some policies.

He says the "greenwash" has intensified since polls were released earlier this month.

"We've seen an increase in intensity since the Greens party started to perform very well in the opinion polls," he said.

"We've seen candidates coming out with green balloons and various other things trying to highlight their credentials when we think it's just a fair bit of spin and greenwash really."
