Fatal accident causes Brisbane traffic chaos
Posted
Traffic remains in chaos on Brisbane's Gateway Motorway after a fatal crash that covered the road with hundreds of boxes of pumpkins and capsicums.
The driver was killed when his B-double truck overturned on the motorway at Eagle Farm on Brisbane's northside, just before 6am.
Phil Clem from Queensland Fire and Rescue says it is likely to be mid-afternoon before the southbound lanes are clear.
"Traffic is at a standstill - they've stopped the traffic again while they're righting the vehicle - we still have a backhoe on site and it's helping with the clean-up but pumpkins and capsicums are covering a fair amount of the roadway," he said.
