Heart of Gold film festival
When Toni Powell and her husband moved north about five years ago she found it tough, so she decided to make a film to take her mind off her unhappiness. That short film won prizes at Toowoomba's 'Shoot Out' film festival and was accepted at 60 festivals worldwide. Its success also gave Toni exposure to the film festival scene. Once again, she found herself less than impressed, so she decided to start her own festival. And so the 'Heart of Gold' festival began. It's already a big success in Gympie and it's now touring the country, with screenings in Adelaide, Perth, Sydney, the Central Coast, Melbourne and the ACT.
