Furphy photographs

Furphy water tanks are Australian rural icons. The cast-iron tank ends have become collectors' items. A family tradition, begun by John Furphy in the 1880s, was to inscribe the ends with mottos and messages, adding to the curiosity and mystique of the tank ends. (Some of the messages are in Pittman short-hand.)

If you have a tank-end on display, we'd love to see a photo. Try to show us the setting. And tell us if the Furphy tank has personal meaning to you. Perhaps you remember the Furphies from your farm childhood? We hope to build a picture of Australian rural heritage, and to share a few yarns, as well.
