The Torture Colony

This is the story of Paul Schaefer, a one-eyed German paedophile, who set up a utopian religious community in a remote part of Chile. He called the place Colonia Dignidad, or 'dignity colony', but there wasn't much dignity going around.

Not only was life in the community fearful and repressive, but the colony soon started operating as an outsourced torture site for the murderous Pinochet regime. This was a place where Pinochet's opponents were 'disappeared'.
