Crooked Business (film review and director interview)

Review

by Julie Rigg

The Australian crime comedy Crooked Business is the second film from Gold Coast barrister Chris Nyst, who also writes thrillers featuring lawyers and a range of colourful criminal identities.

Chris Nyst wrote the screenplay for Gettin' Square. His latest is about a couple of small-timers, Elmo and Stevie, who make one small slip and, to make amends, become ever more deeply involved with local and interstate heavy men. It's one of those crooks-chasing-crooks films, and it has some nicely silly moments, and a wide array of heavy but not particularly bright identities. Not quite Gettin' Square, but fun.
