Rural Reporter for Saturday, January 10, 2008

The environment and disease control feature today on this special summer edition of Rural Reporter, where we're bringing you some story highlights from our team of reporters scattered throughout regional Australia.

We head out with scientists monitoring the impact of the dreaded cane toad on freshwater crocs; check for pest mussels hitching a ride on yachts in far north Queensland; and go searching for elusive platypus in north-west Tasmania. We also head into the chook pen, part of Australia's front line defence against mosquito-borne diseases.
