National wild dog plan
Wild dogs have long been a problem for many pastoralists across the country.
And finally there's to be a national response to the issue.
The National Wild Dog Advisory Group has been established to provide advise to the federal government and hopefully come up with a national response which would bring the dogs under control.
WA state representative Barry Davies says WA can bring a lot of administrative expertise and experience to the new Group.
Aerial disease threat most likely
Countries in an arc around the north of our nation have been judged by an American report as being the most likely to generate new and potentially deadly diseases.
The northern regions of Australia are the areas where the diseases could find suitable hosts and populations allowing them to gain a foothold and rapidly spread.
And Dr Stephen Prowse, CEO of the CRC for Emerging Infectious Diseases says the threat is likely to be airborne, through mosquitoes and midges.
Mercury tops 50 at Pindar
Summer has definitely arrived in the mid west with temperatures spilling off the top of the gauge yesterday.
The mercury climbed to over 50 degrees at Pindar, east of Mullewa, and that recording was taken from a thermometer under a verandah.
Anita Kemp from Pindar South says around 3 o'clock the temperature was 51 degrees Celcius.
