Cuttlefish V Mining Boom

Whyalla is one of the communities at the centre of the state's long anticipated mining boom. Nearby, BHP proposes to build a desal plant to supply its Roxby Downs expansion and the mining industry is proposing a fuel refinery, a new jetty and a port to export minerals. In the middle of all that is a cuttlefish colony of world significance.

The Sudanese In South Australia

The Sudanese community is saying it needs a place on the state's Social Inclusion Board to deal with problems with its young people. The stabbing death of a teenager in the CBD on Wednesday has reopened the question of how the Sudanese are fitting in.
