Committee Fallout
With State Parliament finished sitting for the year, the Premier, David Bartlett would have been hoping to end on a high instead it's been anything but. In fact, the past few months have been a bit of a headache for the State Government. A Parliamentary inquiry has been looking at senior government appointments; it's laid bare some of the Government's inner workings and exposed some serious short comings in how it operates. After reems of evidence, what has the inquiry achieved? One thing's for sure it's shown the extent to which the Upper House is prepared to use it's power of review as Simon Cullen reports.
Roadkill Figures
If you're not a born and bred Tasmanian it can be a shock to see all the roadkill when you first arrive. A CSIRO scientist who's spent three years researching the distribution of dead animals on the state's roads believes there's a way to cut the number of deaths in half. Lucy Shannon reports that local filmmakers have brought his story to the screen.
Jason Krejza
After getting a taste of success in India, Australia's next cricketing spin hope, Jason Krejza is aiming to secure a more permanent place in the Australian team. The Tasmanian based cricketer is hoping to take up the mantle of idols, Stuart Magill and Shane Warne, with his own style of spin. His surprise omission from the test match against New Zealand in Brisbane is thought by many to be putting off the inevitable, but it's thought Krejza will likely secure a place on a more favourable wicket as Fiona Breen reports.
