This week on Collectors: have we got shoes for you! A collective approach to art and Andy opens the boot for a bargain.

First up, Justin Murphy is out in the auction rooms for a show down over a French doll. But its not just any French doll. The Jumeau doll is a famous part of the French doll trade in the nineteenth century particularly for their fashionable late nineteenth century couturier dresses. What price does it fetch at auction?

This week’s passionate collector is Marika Harvey and the subject is shoes, hundreds of them. Marika lives in Canberra, and her collection, which covers every decade since the 1920’s, is on display at the Canberra Museum and Gallery.

Now it’s time for Andy to step out in his never-ending search for the big bargain. And this time his chosen marketplace is the car boot sale!

To this week’s Mystery Item. Have a close look, try to figure it out and see if you can beat the panel’s guesses!

Gordon Brown is going to introduce us to a very clever scheme for collecting works of art. He’s found a group of people who’ve clubbed together to increase their spending power. Dick Bett, local gallery owner, visits the studio to tell us more about the art syndicate.

Collectors, where we think, as the old saying goes, “where there’s a will there’s...just a chance of inheriting that fabulous collection of silver from great Aunt Maude!”

Have Your Say

If you do have a collection of turtles!
