This week's Mystery Object is a Dusting Brush from the 1850s.

It was used to clean the dust off glass plate negatives. The whole photographic process relied on a really clean piece of glass. Glass plate negatives were one of the first methods used to capture images.

This piece has a cedar handle and a velvet cleaning pad.
