It’s time for this week’s passionate collector. Every second Tuesday night, Mark Damon and his local Dr Who club meet to watch old Dr Who programs and eat pizza.
Of course if that isn’t enough to convince you that these guys are cool, just take a look at Mark’s house. It’s packed full of Dr Who memorabilia, much of it with great provenance, particularly an object called “Donny”.
Donny the Dalek is an original BBC creation complete with Morris Minor tail lights and a sink plunger for a weapon! Daleks were the first "monsters" on Dr Who. By the second episode of the program it had an audience of 10.5 million out of a UK population of 45 million.
Mark's pride and joy is a Tom Baker head made by the famous "maker of monsters" John Friedlander. Tom Baker was the longest serving Dr Who lasting seven seasons. As far is Mark knows, his Tom Baker head is the only one of its kind in the world.
The Dr Who club began seven years ago. They get together and have a laugh about the shonky props! Marks' mum gets into it too. She says if you feel a bit down go to Mark's and have a laugh and you'll go home happy!
