This week's Mystery Object are the plumes of a Vice-Regal hat.

The plumed hat was part of the "Windsor Uniform" designed in 1777 by King George 111 and it was worn on formal occasions by all colonial governors until the 1940s.

This particular one is made from swan feathers but ostrich feathers were also used.
