Ballarat On Tour – Lincolns

Friday 17 November 2006

Andrew started collecting 12 years ago when he bought a full-size Lincoln. He purchased it for $7000 and his collection launched from here.

Andrew now has about 1100 model Lincolns, and is confident that his collection might be the world’s greatest collection of single model cars. The oldest model would be from about the mid 1920s. The early cars were made out of cast metal but this material was difficult to add detail to. The detail in the modern models is of much higher quality. Andrew has found there are some models he can’t get because they’re too rare so he decided to make them from balsa wood. Between 50 to 99 companies are represented in this collection and Andrew is going to produce a series of books documenting his collection.

Andrew tracks them around the world by sourcing them on the internet.
