Under the hammer this week is a coal miner’s safety lamp made by the Protector Lamp and Lighting Company of Eccles near Manchester, UK.
In addition to helping workers find their way through the mine’s underground passageways, these lamps offered the added safety feature of indicating high levels of oxygen and methane through a change in the colour of the lamp’s flame.
Justin says the item has been kept in close to original condition and should see some keen interest from bidders.
Bidding starts at $100
Niccole bids: $175
Gordon bids: $400
Adrian bids: $240
The safety lamp sells for $320.
Gordon and Adrian were both $80 off the selling price but, as experienced bidders know, the highest bid always wins. So, congratulations Gordon.
