Jim Dunn happily admits to being an addictive, obsessive collector of electric fans. So far he has more than 1000 of them, and he’s not stopping there. And he’s only been collecting for 10 years!
The collection is an eye-opener , here are mechanically ingenious, stylish, utterly decorative fans that most of us have never seen before, with wonderful brand names like Lollipop, Snowflake, Zephyr and Duckfoot. He is attracted by good design, and most of these, particularly the older ones, are designed not only to look good, but to stand the test of time. The majority are in perfect working order. Some have rubber blades, and an early English one has cloth blades that were designed to be impregnated with perfume, to refresh the room. This is a fascinating, seriously excellent collection.
